Farm Trails

Farm Trail Theme from 'Soil to Seed to Plate'

A visit to Ishana exposes students to use all their senses whilst learning. It’s beyond a classroom! Our field is our lab, where students see, hear, touch, smell and taste the things they are learning. They discover the diversity of nature, how to conserve our natural resources - what makes a soil healthy, methods of rain water harvesting to field activities such as sowing, transplanting, composting and Seed saving by coming face to face with our empowered farmers. A deeper understanding and the know-how of the subject connects them more intimately to the source of chemical-free foods and sustainable agriculture.

We collaborate with Contextual Learning, an experiential program which expose early adolescents to hands on contexts where they learn more about themselves and the world. The CL students use our platform to study organic farming and the importance of Seed conservation as a way to maintain biodiversity. As an outcome of this, students have created their own, a vegetable garden at school. For more information:

Farm Trail Theme from 'Farm to Fork'

We welcome you to Ishana, a 5-acre agro ecology knowledge farm which is IMO certified. We grow, share and eat what is in season, hence an energized bunch of 20 empowered farmers.

We invite people of all ages and backgrounds to rediscover the joys of working on a farm. We walk you through our farm trail " Farm to Fork' to understand the source of chemical-free food. Recycling, renewal energy and conservation plays a key role to our sustainability.

Our field is lush with 55-65 varieties of organic vegetables for seed conservation. A rare treat to the eyes...to see seasonal orange, black, pink, yellow tomatoes and more grow. Our unique Seed Bank conserves over 200 varieties of heritage seeds, multiplied over a decade. A seed catalogue is released every year showcasing this rich diversity. You can choose to be a member to avail our seeds.

We tailor make workshops to help you grow your own vegetables at home, be it a small balcony/terrace or kitchen garden. We also offer advisory services to help start your own farm using an integrated holistic approach.

We have Farm Educators and Experts to get you going. As your relationship with your food deepens, you will find yourself choosing healthy, eating well and reducing disease and associated medical bills!

Come join us and be part of the safe food movement.
